UCR: a Pollinator-friendly Campus

UC Riverside (Riverside, CA) is located in the California Floristic Province (CA-FP). This floristic province boasts a Mediterranean climate and a distinct flora. A biodiversity hotspot, this floristic province includes > 3,000 plant species, of which >60% are endemic to this region.

As part of UCR's efforts to support native pollinators, we are participating in the Xerces Society's Bee Campus USA. In the CA-FP, pollination services are provided a diversity of species, including native bees, butterflies, moths and flies as well as honey bees and hummingbirds.
